Join Aurora Dawn and Victoria Crispo for an exciting afternoon of dance, expression, and creativity for women! Specially designed for both beginners and the advanced belly dance student/performer, this set of workshops will give you the opportunity to:
- perfect the basics
- develop your personal style by learning how to express your emotions through dance and movement
-delve into classical Egyptian belly dance
- dig deep and explore your inner “OOMPH”
And finally…If you’ve ever wondered what to do with your creative energy you’ve built from dancing, Victoria will be taking you through a series of exercises designed to establish creative and realistic goal setting!
Aurora Dawn has been dancing for over ten years and started teaching so that more women like her can benefit from this beautiful art form, bringing out individuality and enjoyment. She is known for bringing a relaxing and stress- free environment to her classroom, accepting of all body types and demonstrating the unique beauty of each dancer.
Victoria Crispo has been dancing since 1999 and utilizes the art form to express a wide range of emotions and connect with her audience in a fun, engaging, and celebratory way. She is also a life/career coach and guides clients towards confident, effective job searches and ways of life, creativity, and realistic goal-setting!
Workshop 1- Introducing Bellydance and Emotional Expression- 12pm-1pmBeginning with 60 min introduction crash course with Aurora! Shimmy hip first… right into what you always wondered about, dreamed of doing and learning how to do…. BELLY DANCE! (Also known as Middle Eastern dance, Raqs Sharqi, and Danse Orientale) We will get right into the “shimmy gritty” learning technique and expression while embracing and building confidence and empowerment. You will be getting in touch with your inner strength along the way, developing an intimate understanding of the true dance that is Belly dance. So enjoy your self, bring friends, sisters, mothers, neighbors- and love your hips!
Workshop 2- Exploring Your Inner OOMPH- 1:15pm-2:15pmThis 60 min session is for the intermediate dancer who may or may not be familiar with Raqs Sharqi or may only have concentrated on another style (tribal, fusion etc) and is looking to delve in some classical Egyptian with “OOMPH”. In this workshop we will dig deep and explore releasing your inner “OOMPH”, adding to your dance routine through choreography. AIWA!!!!!! Workshop 3- Using Movement as a Vehicle for Creative Goal Setting and Attainment- 2:30pm-3:30pmIn the final 60 minutes, you will work with Victoria, a Middle Eastern dancer and career/life coach. She will lead us through a series of (non-movement) exercises designed to help you set and attain your goals. You will reflect on what you are feeling both within your body and emotionally, as well as assess what enhances and drains your energy/creativity. Next, you’ll participate in an interactive exercise to identify what you want to accomplish in the next week/month/year. You’ll be identifying roadblocks, outlining ways to advance over the hurdles, and reflect on how being creative with your body gives you a surge of creativity for thinking resourcefully about setting goals and attaining them!
*We will have colored paper and pencils for your notes, or feel free to bring your own journal! Additional note: as we will be sitting for a portion of this session, you may want to bring a pillow, cushion, or yoga mat.
